Q: How do you set up a Butterfield Pay account?
A customer profile first needs to be created at the backend. Then a purchase needs to be made using the credit card they wish to link to their account. Profile information required is:
Name
Phone Number
Email
Address
Q: Does a Customer need to have a customer profile in our POS?
Yes, customers need to have a profile in our POS.
Q: When is the customer charged?
After every transaction the credit card on file will be charged
Q. Can a Customer set up a Butterfield Pay account without making a purchase?
No, a purchase needs to be made in order for credit cards to be linked to their Butterfield Pay account. Although, we can refund their purchase to the customer if no purchase is necessary at the time.
Q. Can customers use Butterfield Pay at both locations?
At this time, separate Butterfield Pay accounts need to be set up separately at each market.
Q. Can Butterfield Team Members view the full credit card number?
No, our POS does not store the credit card information. We do not have access to a customer's credit card. The credit card data is sent to the credit card processor which is how it traditionally works and then the cc processor returns a token which represents the card for future transactions.
Q. Can multiple family members use the same account?
Yes, there are a couple different ways to set this up.
A family member can share their account information with one another.
Separate accounts can be opened for each family member using the same credit card on file. This process takes a bit longer, but is much more secure.
Q. What will happen to current house accounts?
Our house accounts program is being discontinued. A small number of house accounts will remain for catering customers (mostly institutions like schools and museums)
Q. Can house account customers continue to pay by check or pay their bill at the end of the month.
Unfortunately not. If customers have any questions regarding a charge they can still call the accounting department at 212-772-8782 ext 6.
Q. Can my credit card or fingerprint be removed from the POS?
Yes, any information provided by the customer can be deleted upon request.
